I started this blog at the beginning of my writing career in 2018, well before I published my debut novel. I loved writing, I loved reading, I loved talking about writing and reading, and I was searching for a community with like-minded interests. Not to mention, writing has always been my way of processing – I feel like I often write better than I speak, so blogging was the perfect outlet for me.
And then life happened.
It’s been years since I dove back into the blogging sphere. I’ve wanted to numerous times – hell, I’ve tried numerous times. And all my attempts have been met with the same outcome: a few posts before disappearing for good.
I had a publishing company to run. I had my own writing I needed to try to find time for. I had two daughters and a puppy added to my normal chaos. House renovations. Editing to do. Emails to answer. (So. Many. Emails.)
But I’ve missed you, friends. I’ve missed this.
So at the start of 2024, I decided: I may have a lot going on in life, but if I can find the time to scroll social media, read 15 pages of a book here and there, catch up on shows with my husband, or find 20 minutes to work on my own writing, I can find time for one blog post a month.
It’s not going to do me any favors for engagement. I’m not going to get on any “top blogger” lists. But I’m going to try to take back this aspect of my writing that I’ve sorely missed, and I hope you guys are willing to tag along for the journey. ๐
So hello to all of you, friends new and old. My name is Savanna. I’m a 20-something author living in the Salt Lake City area with my husband, two daughters, a Mini Aussiedoodle puppy, and two cats (as well as our dear friends we share a duplex with). I recently published a book entitled A Sleep as Deep as Death, and it’s a loose Sleeping Beauty Reimagining about how far a daughter will go to reunite with the mother she lost to a deep sleep. I co-run a publishing company (SnowRidge Press) with my husband, and 2024 is set to be our biggest publication year yet! In what little spare time I have with a toddler and infant, I write fairy tale retellings, dystopian, and contemporary novels; play dnd with friends; fawn over my local coffee shops; and attempt to make a dent in my TBR.

I’m over on Instagram (@booksbysr) if you’re ever interested in following me over there, and I also have a newsletter where I provide monthly writing updates, book recommendations, and exclusive short fiction (whether that’s short stories/flash fiction pieces for my newsletter subscribers or a top-secret sneak peek at what I’m currently writing on). The signup link for that is at the top of the page if you’re so inclined to read through my once-a-month ramblings. ๐ (Or to just snag the exclusive short fiction. I get it *winks*)
If things go well, you can expect one blog post a month from me. I hope to alternate between book reviews/recommendations, writing-related advice/topics, and once-a-quarter personal writing updates.
Here’s to reclaiming the blogging sphere! Talk again soon. ๐
